ModoForge: Minimalist Launcher for Android · Effective date: 29 October 2026 · Developer: ModoForge Labs · Contact: modoforgelabs@gmail.com

ModoForge is a home-screen app (launcher) for Android. To do its job it can see your apps, and, if you allow it, your notifications, app usage and a few other things. All of that is processed and kept on your phone. There is no account and no advertising, and we do not sell data. The only things that leave your phone are listed in section 2, and each happens only when you turn on the feature that needs it.

1. Information the app uses on your phone

Everything in this section stays on your device. ModoForge Labs never receives it.

Your apps

ModoForge lists the apps installed on your phone, including Work profile apps and, on Android 15 and later, Private space apps when ModoForge is your home app, so it can show and open them. Your home layout, Home modes, hidden apps, custom names and gestures are saved on the device.

Notifications (optional)

If you grant notification access, ModoForge reads notifications to show counts beside app names, offer quick reply, hold apps you choose for the notification digest, and keep a searchable notification history. The history stores the app, title, text, category and time of each notification in a database on your phone. It is kept for 30 days by default; you can choose 7, 30, 90 or 365 days or until you clear it, and delete one item, one app or all of it at any time. It is never included in backups or device transfers.

When you send a quick reply, your text goes to the app that posted the notification through Android's own reply action, as if you had replied in that app.

App usage (optional)

If you grant usage access, ModoForge reads Android's usage statistics to show screen time beside your apps, enforce daily limits and build weekly insights. These figures are read from Android when needed and are not stored by ModoForge. It saves only the limits you set, extra minutes you add for today, and today's Mindful open counts.

Accessibility service (optional)

The ModoForge app limits accessibility service is off unless you turn it on. It is used only to notice which app comes to the front, so that a daily limit, Focus or a mindful pause can apply even when an app is opened from a notification or recent apps, and to lock the screen or open the notification shade when you map a home gesture to them. It cannot read the content of your screen. Nothing it sees is stored or sent.

Contacts (optional)

If you turn on contact search and grant access, ModoForge searches your contacts on the device so that commands like call Mom or sms Alex work. Contacts are never stored by ModoForge or sent anywhere.

Calendar (optional)

If you turn on the Next event line and grant access, ModoForge reads your upcoming calendar events on the device to show the next one. Events are not stored or sent.

Photos (Screenshot manager)

If you open the Screenshot manager and grant access, ModoForge reads your screenshots on the device to sort them and find exact copies and look-alike duplicates. Screenshots are deleted only when you choose to. They are never uploaded.

Search, notes and clipboard

Approximate location (optional, Weather line)

If you turn on the Weather line and grant approximate location, ModoForge uses your phone's approximate position to fetch the weather (see section 2). It keeps the latest reading and the rounded position in a small cache that is deleted when you turn Weather off.

2. Information that leaves your phone

WhenWhat is sentTo whom

You export a backup in Settings › BackupYour launcher settings and/or notes, as a plain JSON file.Wherever you choose to save it (for example your phone's storage or a cloud drive). The file is not encrypted.

3. Information we do not collect

4. Storage, backups and retention

ModoForge's data is stored in the app's private storage on your phone and is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data. ModoForge opts out of Android's cloud backup. When you move to a new phone with Android's device-to-device transfer (Android 12 and later), Android may copy ModoForge's settings, notes, search history and limits to the new phone; notification history, clipboard history and the weather cache are never copied.

5. Your choices

6. Children

ModoForge is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

7. Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling information differently, we will update this page and the effective date above before that version is released.
