Privacy Policy
VibeFluid is a live-wallpaper app for Android. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. In short: there is no account, no advertising, and we do not sell data. Most of what the app does happens entirely on your device.
1. Information the app uses, and why
Approximate location (optional)
If you grant the location permission, the app reads your device's approximate position once, rounds it to roughly 11 km (0.1° of latitude and longitude) and stores only that rounded value on your device. It is used for two wallpapers:
- Starfield, to draw the real night sky for where you are.
- Live Weather Sky, to request current weather for that area.
For weather, the rounded coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a weather service, at most every 30 minutes and only while the weather wallpaper or its preview is on screen. Open-Meteo receives the rounded coordinates and your device's IP address as part of the request; it does not receive any identifier from the app.
If you do not grant the permission, the app estimates a location from your device's time zone instead, entirely on the device. You can delete the stored location at any time in Settings → Location → Forget location, and revoke the permission in Android settings.
Audio (Music Visualiser only)
The Music Visualiser reacts to sound your phone is playing. To do this Android requires the RECORD_AUDIO permission, which Android labels "Microphone". The app does not access the microphone. It uses Android's Visualizer interface on the device's audio output, processes the waveform in memory to animate the wallpaper, and never stores, records or transmits audio. Audio analysis runs only while that wallpaper is visible, and you can refuse the permission and use the visualiser's Random mode instead.
Photos (Water Ripple, Rain on Glass, Tilt Depth)
You can choose a photo through Android's photo picker, which lets you share a single picture without giving the app access to your photo library. The app keeps a resized copy in its private storage so the wallpaper can display it. For Tilt Depth, the photo is analysed on your device with Google's ML Kit subject segmentation to separate the subject from the background; the image is not uploaded. Choosing "Use default pond" or uninstalling the app deletes the copy.
Motion sensor (Tilt Depth)
Tilt Depth reads the device's rotation sensor to shift the picture as you tilt the phone. Sensor readings are used in memory only.
Purchases
Some wallpapers are one-time purchases made through Google Play. Google processes the payment; the app never sees your payment details. The app receives the product identifier and the purchase state from Google Play and stores a note of what you own on the device so wallpapers unlock offline. Purchases are tied to your Google account and can be restored on other devices through Settings → Restore purchases.
Usage analytics and crash reports (optional)
The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, services provided by Google LLC, to understand which wallpapers are used and to find and fix crashes. This may include:
- app events such as screens viewed, a wallpaper being set, an unlock button being tapped, a purchase completing or failing, and settings choices (for example Battery saver vs Performance);
- device information such as model, operating system version, language, country (derived from IP address by Google), app version, and screen size;
- crash reports containing the technical state of the app at the time of a crash;
- the result of the genuine-copy check below, including the package name of the app store that installed VibeFluid;
- a random app-instance identifier generated by Firebase. The app does not use the advertising ID.
Analytics does not include your location, photos, audio, or purchase amounts. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share usage and crash reports; the app then sends nothing. Google retains analytics data for up to 14 months and crash data for 90 days under our Firebase settings. Google's own privacy policy applies to its processing: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Remote configuration and downloadable content
The app fetches configuration (for example prices, offers, the order of wallpapers and the list of scenes) from Firebase Remote Config, and downloads the pictures of a scene from Cloud Storage for Firebase when you choose that scene for any wallpaper. Configuration requests include the Firebase app-instance identifier, app version, device language, country and operating system version; picture downloads include only the requested file. In both cases Google's servers see your IP address.
Genuine-copy check
When you open the app, it checks on your device which app store installed it and which certificate it is signed with, to detect modified copies. A copy signed by someone else shows a message asking you to install VibeFluid from Google Play, and closes. If usage analytics is on, the outcome is included in analytics as described above; nothing else leaves the device.
2. Information we do not collect
- No accounts, names, email addresses or contact lists.
- No precise location, no location history, no background location.
- No microphone recordings, no photo library access beyond the pictures you pick.
- No advertising identifiers and no advertising networks.
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
3. Who receives data
| Recipient | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google LLC (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Cloud Storage for Firebase, Google Play) | Analytics events, crash reports, app-instance ID, device information; purchase state; IP address and requested file for scene downloads | Diagnostics, usage statistics, configuration, scene downloads, purchases |
| Open-Meteo (weather API) | Rounded coordinates, IP address | Current weather for Live Weather Sky |
These providers act on our behalf or as independent services under their own policies; none are permitted to use data from VibeFluid for advertising.
4. Storage, security and retention
Data processed on the device stays in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read, and is removed when you uninstall VibeFluid. Network connections use TLS encryption. Analytics and crash data are kept by Google for the periods above and then deleted.
5. Your choices and rights
- Location: deny or revoke the permission; use Forget location to delete the stored value.
- Audio: deny the permission; the Random visualiser mode needs no access.
- Photos: replace or remove the chosen picture inside the app.
- Analytics: switch it off in Settings → Privacy.
- Deletion: uninstalling removes all on-device data. To have analytics data associated with your app instance deleted from Firebase, email modoforgelabs@gmail.com and we will process the request within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us at the address above to exercise them. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under CCPA.
6. Children
VibeFluid is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Legal basis (EEA/UK users)
We process data to provide the app and its features you choose to use (performance of a contract), to run optional analytics and crash reporting with your consent (which you can withdraw in Settings), and for our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and working.
8. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
